Located on a plain at an elevation of 316 m, surrounded by mountains and lush countryside, it is much greener and quieter than the capital, and has a cosmopolitan air and a significant expat population, factors which have led many from Bangkok to settle permanently in this "Rose of the North". Chiang Rai is the capital of Chiang Rai province, in Northern Thailand. The town has a population of around 62,000 and is the main commercial centre serving the Golden Triangle border region of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. It is an excellent base for exploring the region. Day 1

Visit and explore 4 reserved temples in Chiangmai. All constructed during the Lanna period, each reflen the glory, splendors and nobility of a rich historical era.
In the west of the city lies Wat Suan Dok, built by King Lanna the large white Chedi towers above the numerous small ones and contains the ashes of the Lanna King and the remains of many generations of the old Chiangmai Royal Family. Then, short distance to Wat Phra Singh. And a last one is Wat Chedi Luang which is the largest Chedi in Chiangmai
After excursion, transfer to hotel in Chiangmai, check in at hotel & free time at leisure
Pick up from hotel at 18:30 hrs. For “Khantoke Dinner”, relax in and informal atmosphere while dining on delicious northern Thai cuisine called “Khantoke”. Tuck in and eat to your heart’s content. During the meal a traditional northern musical ensemble will play soothing music while charming dancers will entertain you with the fingernail dance, candle dance, sword dance and ramwong dance. The timber industry pushing, dragging and rolling logs in unison at the command of their mahouts. And here comes the best part…”ride ‘em cowboy” time. It’s now time for an exciting 1 hour elephant ride over the hills and into the lush jungle.
You’ve got to “swing with the sway” as you rumble and thrash along…and hang on tight folks. (Elephants are very sure-footed animals).
Then experience a 15 minutes ox-cart ride back to the camp. (This form of transportation is probably similar to what your ancestors traveled in, in the Middle Ages).
A picnic lunch is provided under the cool jungle shade.
After lunch, enjoy a 1 hour “Huckleberry Finn” bamboo rafting trip on the placid Mae Taeng River. Glide along in a summer dream. Visit an Orchid Nursery Farm filled with exotic orchid blooms. Day 3
Chiang Rai one day tour + transfer from Chiangmai to Chiangrai (B/L)

Check out from hotel in Chiangmai, pick up from hotel at 07:00 am. And transfer to Chiangrai a trip by road along a scenic route, driving through undulating hills and valleys, emerald green woods, quaint small towns and picturesque villages.
A break is made at a hot spring in Mae Kachan district. Proceed on to the town (and province) of Chiangrai.
Visit and explore the Yao and Akha hilltribe villages and see their quaint, unique costumes. Each tribe has its own culture, customs, traditions and dialect.
Drive further on to Mae Sai, a bustling border town with Myanmar and the northern most point of Thailand. Shop around for some Myanmar goodies.
Have lunch at a local restaurant. Proceed to the world-renowned Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet at the confluence of the mighty Mekhong River. A superb view of the river and surrounding three countries can be seen. Visit the ancient town of Chiangsaen, the very first kingdom in Thailand situated on the banks of the Mekhong River and explore its archeological remains.
Evening, finish this program in Chiangrai and transfer to hotel in Chiangrai

Day 4
free day (morning) – half day “Doi Tung” (B)

Afternoon time, 13:30 hrs., pick up from hotel for half day “Doi Tung” Depart from the hotel by the air–con van to the highest peak on the Thai–Myanmar border. Doitung, provides an opportunity to view en route many different Lahu and Akha village as well as terraced farming areas, and sees from distance the Princess Mother’s frigid flower Garden. Doitung temple is located at the peak. Its scenery reminds on overlooking the entire northern rice field plain. After that return to the hotel.
